The Revere team is delighted to announce that the 700+ hectare Cairngorms Peatland Restoration Project is now ready for investment, peatland carbon credit purchase or advance market commitment.
It is shocking that 3.5% of the UK’s total greenhouse gas footprint comes from degraded peatland.
The Cairngorms Peatland Restoration Project directly addresses this by restoring the peat which swiftly prevents carbon emissions and returns the peat to being a natural carbon store.
The project is located in the heart of the majestic Cairngorms National Park in the central Highlands of Scotland. As well as providing a vital climate solution, the project is enhancing natural habitats, conserving wildlife species, naturally reducing pollutants and rebalancing nutrient levels.
The project is a collaboration between the landowner, the Cairngorms National Park Authority, and the Revere team. It is creating jobs for the local community, seeking to demonstrate how private financing can shoulder a greater share of the costs of peatland restoration with less reliance on public funding, and giving 10% of any project profits to a local community trust.
