Revere has been announced as a finalist in the 2022 Business Green Leaders Awards in recognition of its contribution towards finding new ways of financing conservation projects in some of the UK’s best-loved protected landscapes.
The team at Revere – a partnership between global impact firm, Palladium and National Parks UK – have welcomed the news that their innovative plans for nature restoration are making an impact with industry experts after being shortlisted in the Nature-based Project of the Year.
Andrew Sutherland, Nature-based Solutions Director at Palladium, said: “Revere officially launched last October and we are continuing to make amazing progress thanks to people who are passionate about making a positive change to our landscapes, from colleagues within the Revere team, through to our funders and stakeholders.
“To be shortlisted for this award is a testament to the commitment everyone has for this project. Revere’s unique approach to harnessing new ways to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises is already leveraging both public and private finance and making progress on the ground with our pilot projects – the future is exciting.”
With a substantial and sustained approach needed to avoid an ecological disaster, Palladium and National Parks UK combined their expertise to form Revere in a bid to develop new ways to catalyse private finance to support the urgent work.
Projects already in the portfolio include a large-scale peatland restoration project in the Cairngorms National Park and an initiative in the North York Moors National Park that aims to restore habitats and deliver natural flood defence improvements.
Pooling expertise and contacts to develop innovative and ethical projects that work for nature, investors and communities, Revere has already sourced private funding from major partners including Santander UK and Estée Lauder Companies UK & Ireland.
Andrew said: “Palladium has been incubating nature-based solutions across the tropics at scale for years. When we heard about the enormous challenges facing the National Parks here in the UK, we realised we could use our global expertise to find the funding to restore nature at the scale and pace that’s needed.
“Revere has brought together a team of people dedicated to help tackle the huge climate and biodiversity crisis we are facing. We are working with the National Parks UK and the landowners, famers, and communities within them, to design restoration models that work for them and for nature.”
Now in their 12th year, the awards are the industry’s largest of their kind with past winners including the World Wildlife Fund and OVO Energy. The winners of The Business Green Leaders Awards will be announced at an event in London in June which will highlight and celebrate the best of the UK’s green economy.
